Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:

Manages the maintenance program and asset reliability for the whole site. Assists in the overall safety, administration, management, planning organizing, and staffing of the division/program in the enforcement and implementation of all policies and procedures. Assists in and may oversee new construction, installations, upgrading and major remodeling projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, schedules, and oversees all activities within area of assignment to assure that work is performed efficiently and according to appropriate guidelines, procedures, and regulations; prioritized and coordinates work with staff and contractors to ensure safely and timely completion of projects.
  • Accountable for Maintenance and reliability for the site as per KPI set by the management. 
  • Responsible in developing Maintenance & Reliability program, policies and SOP’s. 
  • Provide machinery expertise to the Maintenance and Operations teams and collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines (instrumentation, applications, control systems, reliability, etc.) to support plant operations and improvements.
  • Provide engineering support for modifications to machinery equipment and new installations, including reviewing and approving changes, developing engineering specifications/requirements, conducting or participating in design reviews, and supporting testing and commissioning. 
  • Participate in activities related to safety and risk assessment and in safety incident investigations related to machinery equipment, and 
  • Develop / implement innovative solutions to non-routine problems by leading teams in resolving technical challenges and expanding sphere of influence beyond core technical discipline
  • Mentor inexperienced engineers to develop skills, and provide technical leadership (formal or informal) in operations and small local projects. 
  • Utilize depth and/or breadth of experience to identify cross-functional business opportunities and participate in internal company networks to share knowledge and practices to the benefit of others.
  • Selects, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff; conducts performance evaluations, and initiates disciplinary actions as warranted; resolves grievances and other confidential personnel matters.
  • Coordinate manpower and tools resources planning and sharing as Site Centralized Workshop.
  • Prepares the annual budget for assigned program; maintains fiscal records and monitors expenditures and distribution of budgeted funds to assure compliance with approved limits.
  • Recommends and implements policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards for the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of assigned program, assuring compliance with applicable legal requirements and County policies and goals.
  • Manages on-going comprehensive needs assessment, audits, program evaluation, and special studies as required, to assure all maintenance & reliability program compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Receives and reviews work orders for maintenance, repair, construction activities, modifications and minor improvement projects preparing operational plans for each project; determines manpower, equipment and material need working from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specification.
  • Monitors costs and plan reviews for construction projects of limited scope and size. May act as a project manager.
  • Assists in the development of bid specifications for equipment, materials, and supplies purchased and reviews final specifications to assure needs of assigned area of operations are met.
  • Inspects work in progress and upon completion to assure high quality of work and that standards of safety and legal requirements are being met.
  • May serve as a key liaison for the program and direct the resolution of inquiries, problems, complaints, or emergencies affecting availability or quality of services. Responds to sensitive or complex inquiries or service complaints.
  • Analyzes Maintenance & Reliability program effectiveness and recommends improvements to existing services, equipment and operating systems; researches, analyzes and evaluates new developments in assigned area and works to expand existing program and services; develops and recommends new programs and program modifications.
  • Develops and maintains a record-keeping system that provides for the proper evaluation, control and documentation of assigned works, may include tracking and management information systems.
  • Serves as a technical resource and responds to, or supervises the resolution of inquiries, complaints, or requests for information regarding area of assignment from other departments, private companies, and the general public, providing information within scope of knowledge and authority, or refers to appropriate individual. Responds to all inquiries pertaining to assigned operations.
  • Supervises the response to emergency situations, assuring effective repairs of damaged structures, systems, and roadways.
  • Administers and ensures compliance with County safety policies. May serve on the department’s safety committee.
  • Adheres to site and departmental policies and procedures as well as safe work practices, policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other staff, public officials, the general public and representatives of other agencies.
  • Attends and participates in required trainings.
  • Has regular and reliable attendance.
  • Working irregular hours is required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for overseeing daily store operations, ensuring efficient inventory management, maintaining accurate records, supervising store staff, and ensuring compliance with company policies.

Job Success Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of working experience in engineering and maintenance within manufacturing / refinery / oleochemical / palm oil industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experienced in Project Management – CAPEX, plant extensions.
  • Minimum 3–5 year’s experience in managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge in:
    • Preventive and corrective maintenance
    • Plant reliability and equipment efficiency
    • Utility and facility management
    • Maintenance planning and shutdown activities
  • Strong understanding of maintenance KPI, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Familiar with CMMS / SAP PM system.
  • Good understanding of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) regulations and compliance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Able to lead and manage engineering and maintenance teams effectively.
  • Good communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and manage plant operational priorities.
  • Good command of English both verbal and written.
  • Able to join ASAP.

Additional Notes / Desirable Skills / Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experienced in palm oil refinery, oleochemical plant, chemical plant and power plant or manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Familiar with project management, equipment reliability improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experienced in Green field and brownfield projects. Good in English.
  • Experience in managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
  • Familiar with ISO standards and maintenance compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage contractors, vendors, and external service providers effectively.
  • Strong commitment to safety culture and operational excellence.
  • Highly disciplined in maintenance planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Experience in plant expansion or commissioning projects is an added advantage.
