Tank Farm Operator

Job Summary:

As a Tank Farm Operator, your main responsibility is unloading, and to a lesser extent loading, tankers with bulk chemicals. You will carry out this work in accordance with a schedule, standards, and health and safety and operational procedures. In addition, you will help to keep the department in order, which includes, for example, transfer and cleaning activities and the processing of various secondary goods. You will ensure the correct administrative processing of, for example, bookings within the SAP ERP system. You will contribute to optimising processes and achieving the company’s objectives.

Position in the Organization:

The Fuel Station Operator reports directly to the Day Shift Supervisor. You will work alongside other Fuel Station Operators.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Receiving samples from tankers and submitting them to Quality Control for verification
• Unloading explosive, flammable, hazardous and harmful chemicals from tankers, rail wagons and containers into storage tanks 
• Loading finished products into tankers 
• Cleaning pipes and tanks and maintaining various equipment 
• Processing chemicals, such as transferring bulk chemicals into packages 
• Ensuring sufficient and correct stocks and the delivery of pre-processed chemicals
• Recording stocks of bulk chemicals and ensuring accurate stock levels 
• Contributing to the maintenance and optimisation of storage facilities 
• Maintaining records in the SAP ERP system 
• Helping to supervise, monitor and implement preventive measures, and ensuring compliance with regulations regarding safety, quality, order and cleanliness (health and safety and the environment).

Job Success Requirements:

• Training as an Operator (Level 2–3), or equivalent
• VAPRO A (partial certificates)
• Proficiency in spoken English and German
• Forklift licence
• An interest in chemistry, bulk transport and process installations (such as storage tanks)
• Driving licence for terminal trucks and tankers
• Have completed or are willing to undertake various training courses relating to process equipment, installations and (hazardous) chemicals
• You work safely and are results-oriented
• You are a team player and work well with others
• You are quality-conscious
