Fighting against cardiovascular disease<\/h2>\n

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) refers to the conditions that affect the heart or blood vessels. It is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with an estimated 17.3 million people died from this disease each year. A study predicted the global number of death caused by CVD to reach 23.6 million by 2030 [10]. It is inevitably a major health problem lurking around us.<\/p>\n

Efforts are made to tackle issues related to CVD. For instance, nutraceuticals such as vitamins and fish oil are directed towards promoting heart health and blood vessel health by reducing lipid (fat) levels, including cholesterol and triglyceride levels.<\/p>\n

Promoting heart health with Tocotrienols<\/h2>\n

Low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and high triglyceride level can lead to the build-up of plaques in blood vessels which inhibits blood flow to the heart and other parts of our body. Plaque build-up can also cause inflammation which narrows the arteries and hinders the blood flow, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.<\/p>\n

Tocotrienols help to lower LDL-C and triglyceride and delay the blockage formation in blood vessels. Tocotrienols can reduce up to 25% of LDL-C and triglyceride, reducing major CVD risk factors such as hyperlipidemia that may occur when there are too many lipids in the blood [11]. In a Davos Life Sciences Pte Ltd’s study, Tocotrienols are proven effective in lowering the production and transport of triglycerides in subjects with elevated blood cholesterol levels, reducing triglyceride levels by as much as 28%. Tocotrienol-treated subjects showed decreasing average weight trends, body fat mass, body fat percentage and waist measurement over time.<\/p>\n

Acting as a better alternative to statins<\/h2>\n

Tocotrienols can suppress the production of the enzyme essential for cholesterol production [13]. Tocotrienols are valid alternatives to statins, the primary pharmacologic standard for treating lipid imbalance, as Tocotrienols are unlikely to cause side effects such as nerve dysfunction which can arise when statins are taken at higher doses.
