Typical functions of low molecular weight PEGs include solubility enhancement in syrups, drops, sprays and softgel capsule fillings. They are also frequently used for consistency adjustment in creams and ointments, as well as lubricant and binder for tableting.  Low and high molecular weight PEGs can easily be blended within the same preparation, providing manyfold options to specifically adjust formulation characteristics.
