New Surfactants from KLKOM’s Sulphation Plants

KL-Kepong Oleomas Sdn Bhd (“KLKOM”) has successfully added Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (“SLS”) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (“SLES”) into their product portfolio since the first quarter (Q1) of 2021. KLKOM is the second SLS and SLES production site of KLK OLEO group after KLK Tensachem, Belgium. The SLS and SLES manufactured by KLKOM are GMP-certified.

The addition of these two products makes the offering from KLK OLEO in Asia more complete, especially in the home and personal care industry.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (TENSOPOL SLS)

KLK OLEO produces TENSOPOL SLS with 100% renewable carbon. It is biodegradable, does not bio-accumulate in water or land, and has a natural origin index of 0.9 in accordance with ISO 16128. KLKOM can produce SLS in the form of needles, powder, as well as liquid.

SLS is one of the primary surfactants widely used in oral care, personal care and home care. SLS is also an effective surfactant used extensively in industrial applications to make floor cleaners, engine degreasers and machine wash detergents. Toothpaste can also use SLS in a lower concentration.

Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (TENSAGEX SLES)

SLES is an anionic surfactant, widely used as a primary surfactant in rinse-off products, such as dishwashing liquid and shampoo.

Produced from natural fatty alcohols, TENSAGEX SLES features very high purity and low in 1,4-dioxane, salt and colour. It meets the latest regulatory restrictions for household cleaning products and personal care products.

TENSAGEX SLES is available as a high-active paste and also in the form of low active liquid for easy processing.

With state-of-the-art technology to be completed at the end of 2021, SLES with 1 moles EO produced from KLKOM could achieve 1,4 dioxane specs at 5ppm max, which is one of the most stringent specs in the industry.
