Commander of the Order of Leopold II Award

The King of Belgium has conferred upon the CEO of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (“KLK”) Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lee Oi Hian the Commander of the Order of Leopold II during a private ceremony on 26 August 2021.

The prestigious National Order was officially presented to Tan Sri Lee on behalf of King Philippe of the Belgians by the Ambassador of Belgium to Malaysia His Excellency Pascal Grégoire. This award is given in honour of KLK Tensachem’s (part of KLK OLEO) transformation and contribution to the Sovereign of Belgium.

This Order, which was established on 24 August 1900, is awarded for meritorious service to the Sovereign of Belgium by Royal Decree, as a token of His personal goodwill. According to Mr Ambassador Grégoire, the Order is roughly equivalent to the British Victorian Order, which is a personal gift as well of the British monarch and has similar cases.

It was an honour to have other dignitaries to witness the momentous occasion. Also present at the ceremony was newly appointed Ambassador of Malaysia to Belgium H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian Abd Ghani, Ambassador of the European Union to Malaysia H.E. Mr Michalis Rokas, Berjaya’s Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan and Belgium Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Mr Pierrick Massaux. The KLK OLEO team was represented by KLK OLEO CEO Mr Madhev Bala Subramaniam, Managing Director FAL & ME SBU Mr Raghunathan Nair and Managing Director MES Mr Chua Boon Hook.
